Tennessee is firmly rooted in the traditions and heart of its region, and this nostalgic soda parlor in Knoxville just might have you wishing for childhood again. Located on the eastern side of the state, the operating Phoenix Pharmacy & Fountain is a true hidden gem, one of our favorite spots to visit when the heat gets a bit too aggressive. Check it out!
This independently owned Knoxville shop not only operates as a fully functional pharmacy but also boasts a highly popular and authentic soda fountain. This mix of old-school fun and contemporary service means that everyone from mom and dad to the kids make their way to Phoenix Pharmacy & Fountain.
Kid-friendly and located right in the heart of the city, Phoenix Pharmacy has an incredible, vintage vibe and offers everything from floats to sundaes.

There are other sweet classics available as well, like donuts and rice krispy treats. Yum! Truly something for everyone.
The design inside the space is incredible, as owners Ron Sherril and Charlie Southerland wanted to keep the integrity of space (it's located inside an old JC Penney Building) while remaining true to the vintage feel of a 20th-century soda fountain.
The bar itself is over 20 feet long, and the entire pharmacy can seat roughly 48 customers. Come with your friends, come with your family. Ice cream is served by the scoop alongside delicious and old fashioned malts and shakes.
Since its inception in 2016, Phoenix Pharmacy & Fountain has proven itself to be a true Knoxville gem. Everything is homemade and served with a side of southern hospitality, which we know in Tennessee makes everything better.
You can visit for yourself in the heart of Knoxville, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, you can visit from noon to 10 p.m.
