10 Places That Nashvillians Love Just As Much As Tourists Do
Nashville has exploded as a tourist top spot in recent years, giving locals a reason to explore their own city and out-of-towners a solid spot to put on their bucket list. Although this may seem like two mutually exclusive groups, there are a few places and restaurants tossed around the city that fall in the same camp. Travel like a tourist, travel like a local, explore the city we’ve all come to know and love.
10. The Parthenon
We love this beautiful, hulking monument in the middle of the city - it's a replica of the original in Athens, and makes for a great spot to throw the frisbee around during the warmer months.
9. Five Daughters Bakery
Nashville's take on the NYC "cronut", Five Daughters is great for doughy, sugary goodness. There are multiple locations, but we have a certain soft spot for their old house venue located just off of 12th Avenue South.
8. Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art
What's not to love…? The art museum is located in the old family mansion on the property, and multiple events throughout the year make for a continuously magical experience at Cheekwood.
7. imogene + willie
Known across social media as one of the most popular clothing stores in the state, Nashvillian's tend to come and look and Instagram on the daily. There's just so much inspiration in this beautiful space! 2601 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204
6. Mas Tacos Por Favor
We would never consider Mas Tacos a tourist trap, but you'll find a solid few wandering around with their $3 tacos and a plastic cup filled with horchata. You'll find more locals, though - strike up a conversation and enjoy a meal with a true southerner, folks. 732 Mcferrin Ave, Nashville, TN 37206
5. The Pedestrian Bridge
The Pedestrian Bridge is secretly great for date nights and free parking on the LP Field side if you're headed to a Preds game. On sunny afternoons, you'll find business folk stretching their legs with a quick walk from one side to the other.
4. Peter Nappi
This Nashville-based fashion brand is found on the feet of many a marketing executive and songwriter throughout the city. You just have to look! 1308 Adams St, Nashville, TN 37208
3. Frothy Monkey
You'll more than likely find a few college students here, especially at the 12th Avenue South location. Still, we'd recommend the West Nashville or the Franklin-based Frothy Monkey spots if you need your java fix.
2. Tootsie's World Famous Orchid Bar
It's true, you aren't going to find many locals down on Broadway during a normal day, but Tootsie's has a sweet place in our hearts. The historic spot represents the Nashville of the past, and we still love it so. 422 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203
1. The Ryman
The same goes for The Mother Church of country music. The original home of the Grand Ole Opry, you can catch your favorite bands playing at The Ryman throughout the year - make sure to check their calendar! It's chock-full of great acts.
