Located just outside of downtown Nashville, the Hermitage Cafe just recently underwent renovations that rendered the tiny spot much more enjoyable for a heavy diner meal. Full of windows and filled to the brim with locals, this is a neat place to experience, even just once. (71 Hermitage Avenue)
This tiny hole-in-the-wall has been around 1995, and their menu has hardly changed a bit. Why mess with a good thing...? A Nashville foodie landmark, it's a must-visit if you're a fan of spicy, perfectly fried meats and a solid side. We recommend their mac 'n cheese! (2309A Franklin Pike)
Nashville Biscuit House is a legendary facet of East Nashville, an easy place to drive-thru if you're hungry for a biscuit sandwich with a nice piece of sausage or fried catfish. (805 Gallatin Avenue)
Mas Tacos has recently experienced an in-house expansion, building out a bar and more seating in their low-key, East Nashville spot. Old school and the best kind of meals come from Brown's Diner. Located out by Hillsboro Village and West End, it's just a quick pop of 440 to this tiny space with a whole lot of character. (2102 Blair Boulevard)
This teensy spot is quirky and fun, located on Charlotte Avenue on the west side of town. Flanked by used bookstores, antique shops and thrift stores, this is one great place to experience. Grab a coffee to go or maybe hang out for a second. There are only a couple of chairs, though - so no crowds! (4902 Charlotte Pike)
