The Oldest Radio Show In America Is Right Here In Nashville And It’s Amazing
As the longest running radio show in the United States, the little country show that could has made its mark on American history. The Grand Ole Opry has run consistently since November 28, 1925, so we’re looking at ninety-one years in service. How insane is that?! Learn a little bit about this American legend right here.

The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly country music stage concert, and it takes place at the Opry building located at 2804 Opryland Drive.

Upon its inception in 1925, what would be the Grand Ole Opry was the WSM Barn Dance, held in the National Life & Accident Insurance Company building in downtown Nashville.

The Grand Ole Opry was moved to the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville in 1943. The beautiful venue is still known as, "The Mother Church of Country Music."

It is known as one of the most phenomenal venues to play in the United States and still hosts a slew of touring musicians, and even the Grand Ole Opry during a three-month stint during the holiday season.

This is a shot of the Grand Ole Opry cast in 1965, and you can find it still hanging up in the back hall.

Interesting fact: Although many of the country greats have been known to play the famed venue, even Elvis Presley made a stand in On October 2, 1954. It was his only performance on the Opry stage.

Here you can see June Carter Cash playing at the Opry in 1999.

Little Jimmy Dickens is show here, playing on the Opry state in 2004.

Interesting fact? That circle of wood in the floor was taken from the Ryman - so that every singer can sing on the stage of the greats.

What began as a simplistic broadcast has since grown into a cornerstone of country music - and it's all housed in little ol' Nashville.
Now that we’ve had our history lesson, how about we head out on one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Nashville? You can play country music on the way, though. We promise.
