The Oldest General Store Near Nashville Has A Fascinating History
Here in Tennessee we have quite a bit of respect for history. That’s why spots like the Old Delina Country Store are so revered and honored. A nod to the past. Bit of the way things were, and a lot of true southern spunk. Take a visit, will ya?
The Old Delina Country Store was opened in 1892, which makes it one of the oldest operating groceries in the whole state. Pretty crazy, hey? The family-owned spot takes quite a bit of pride in their store.
(Just in case you don't want to do the math...1892 makes the General Store 114 years old. Pretty crazy, right?!)
On the side of the store you can find the words, "Welcome to Delina - Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere." In all reality, you can hit up the store with a ninety minute drive from Nashville.
You can still visit the store to grocery shop, but you won't be finding a ton to stock your pantry. The restaurant, however, operates for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. So there's no bad time to show up!
They've earned rave reviews both by locals and online, and we can see why. These twice-baked bbq potatoes look positively HEAVENLY - and that's before they send 'em back through the oven a second time. We'll take four!
A local gem, Old Delina is precisely the depiction of the Tennessee past you just may miss with all your heart. Grab a meal, chat with someone new and enjoy a bit of southern hospitality.
