Nashville, Tennessee isn’t called “Music City” for nothing. It’s the Hollywood of the American south, where musicians come with grand hopes and dreams. It’s a city that’s influenced the musical community and celebrities alike, with movies set on its grand streets and songs written about the town itself. Nashville, Music City, the Hollywood of the South. It's a place for dreamers and doers, it's the kind of city that folks visit with grand plans and stars in their eyes.

Dolly Parton's song, "Down On Music Row" follows a young singer as they walk from record label to record label on Music Row, looking for a place to sell their music.

Music Row is the home to multiple record label offices, recording studios, and even radio stations.

It's perhaps best known for the historic RCA Studio B, the location where both Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton recorded their biggest hits. It's a historic district that's free to walk and experience.

You'll find quite a few labels housed in old houses, since "Music Row" is an umbrella term for 16th and 17th Avenue South in Nashville. It's truly the heart of Music City.

Of course, Dolly Parton also sings about visiting the "hall of fame" in her song as well, which you can visit for yourself in downtown Nashville. The Country Music Hall of Fame is well worth a visit if you haven't been!
