12 Things You Quickly Learn When You Move To Nashville
Nashville has become a great place to live, work, and raise a family. A solid southern town, it has come to represent an open-minded and progressive community with an emphasis on good American values and a down home work ethic. LOTS of people want to make Music City their home, and we can’t blame them – we know we’re the best. There’s a steep learning curve though, once you manage to make the move. Here are twelve things you will learn oh so quickly once you make the jump to Nashville.
12. Everyone assumes you're in the music business.
This is a common, consistent question. It will never end.
11. You're a newbie if you pay for music.
Nashville is full of talented singers, so if you're looking for a show, you can find them for free all around town. We wouldn't throw dirt in the face of the Ryman, though - that show is worth everything.
10. Nashville. Has. Jobs.
So many jobs. We've been listed as one of the best places for both businesses and those looking to break into their career.
9. We know you're new by the way you pronounce, "Demonbreun."
Do you know how to pronounce it correctly...?
8. Music Row can be a little bit of a let down…
It's a street of houses where your favorite songs are recorded. The beauty is in the music, not the street. Although it is a lovely road...?
7. Get used to seeing celebrities.
AND they're treated quite normally. This isn't Los Angeles, people.
6. And everyone has seen T. Swift. Everyone.
Before New York wooed her away (and when she wore outfits like the one above to her concerts), Taylor lived her normal life out and about in Nashville - and everyone treated her just like a normal human being. Imagine that?
5. You'll forever be asked, "Where are you from?"
We've become the new melting pot of America - finding a Nashville native is like finding a unicorn.
4. Good luck being a vegetarian…
We're big fans of meat and threes out here, but we'd recommend heading over the The Wild Cow in East Nashville if you're looking for a decadent meal that sticks to your diet - and values.
3. Traffic is a thing, so be careful.
But really - traffic in Nashville is pretty rough. We're still learning to deal with the influx of transplants...
2. We may be in the south, but our winters get CHILLY.
Yes - extremely chilly. Make sure to invest in a puffer coat, folks. And a peacoat. And a trench.
1. And the weather never knows what to do.
Nashville is a spontaneous town - dress in layers!
