What Was Once An Old Car Factory In Nashville Is Now A Unique Place To Shop Called Marathon Village
Downtown Nashville is a very popular spot for folks to hang out, and it seems that there’s nowhere to go that isn’t already crawling with crowds. But just a mile outside of downtown, you’ll find one of the coolest spots in town that often gets overlooked by the tourists. It’s called Marathon Village and features over 20 local shops, distilleries, and eateries, all housed in an old car factory. If you love shopping and/or history, this is the place for you.
Marathon Village near downtown Nashville is a refurbished car factory that has since been turned into a space housing some of the coolest shops in the city.
Starting in 1910, the Marathon Motor Works produced some of the finest cars in the South, and by 1912, they were producing over 10,000 cars a year. There are still working models of their earliest cars!
You can still see some of the old models on display in the Marathon museum, housed in the complex. Guided tours have to be scheduled in advance but are pretty easy to set up. Just visit their website.
The real stars of the show at Marathon Village are the shops set up along the Clifton Street side. One of the more popular ones is Bang Candy Company, known for their decadent homemade marshmallows.
You can also find the antique store Antique Archaeology, which you might recognize as the home base for the hosts of the TV show American Pickers.
