Woolworth on 5th not only delivers classic Southern dishes, but it's located in a space that gives a solid nod to the civil rights lunch counter protests that took place in the space in the mid-twentieth century. There's no other place in the city that sends you back in time with such validity and aplomb.

The Catbird Seat is located on Music Row, and it hosts a spare number of people every night for dinner. The experience comes at a price, the tasting menu is paired well with wine and cocktails, making it one of the hardest reservations to get in the city.

The 404 Kitchen gives a unique spin to European classics, and it's just moved to a larger and more modern space just across the street from its original location. If you're looking for a taste flown straight across the Atlantic, this is the place to go. You can also indulge in Gertie's, the whiskey bar that's located just downstairs.

Husk gives a historical setting to a southern experience, especially since you'll be noshing on fried chicken in the heart of a historic old home. Although owned by a Charleston-based company, it remains one of the most elegant dining experiences in the city.
