National donut day takes place every June, which means that folks have the chance to sate their sweet tooth early on in the summertime. The rest of the year? We’re showing up to our favorite local donut shop for Little League games and office Friday’s and Saturday morning donut runs. If you’re looking to try something new, these fabulous donut shops are located in and around Nashville, Tennessee, and we’ve put together a neat day trip that will take you to every single one of them.

Fox's Donut Den is a Nashville classic, a Green Hills fixture that truly represents donut tradition in Music City. Old fashioned in the best way, this local shop dates back to 1973 and has a dedicated customer base to boot.

Shipley's is a Texas-based chain, but it's taken the city of Nashville completely by storm. Located right off of Lebanon Pike, this is a favorite for folks looking to indulge in yeast and cake donuts with a classic carton of milk. Popular for kids and easy on the pocketbook, Tennessee is sure thankful to its southwest cousin for the import.

One of the newest spots on our list, East Park Donuts & Coffee is located in a clean, contemporary space in East Nashville and offers up spades of gourmet donuts perfect for any diet. Vegan? Keto? Paleo? They have a donut for you! Plus all the classic favorites for the rest of us.

Five Daughters Donuts took the city by storm a handful of years ago with the invention of their classic 100-layer donut, not unlike the famed Dominique Ansel cronut in NYC. The locally owned chain later expanded to multiple locations in Nashville and Franklin, even opening a decadent spot in Seaside, Florida.

Killebrew is a coffee shop located in the Thompson Hotel, right in the heart of The Gulch neighborhood downtown. Indulge in Revelator coffee and a sweet treat inside the coffee shop's ultra-chic digs.

Once a Shipley's location, McGough's Do-Nuts has reworked a classic space to be a facet of Madison's donut scene. Newbie though it might be, we'd recommend this spot for all North Nashvillians looking for a warm apple fritter or iced cake donut. Yum!

Can't decide between salty and sweet? The Donut + Dog located in Hillsboro Village claims to have the BEST donut in Nashville (backed up by an equally enthusiastic Nashville Scene), and they serve up hot dogs to die for. Come early and stay late at this Music City Classic. It doesn't get much better than this.
