Tennessee is a lush, gorgeous place to live or spent a well-deserved vacation, but sometimes you want to up the ante with a view of unbelievable natural views and unparalleled rest. If you’re looking to hang out on the eastern side of the state then you’re in luck. We’ve fallen in love with the tiny town of Tellico Plains – there are less than 900 folks! – and think that it’s the prettiest spot to visit in the summertime.
The tiny town of Tellico Plains is well known for its natural beauty and small, compact community.
We, however, also find it to be the greenest spot in the state apart from the untouched rustling of the Great Smoky Mountain wilderness.
Tellico Plains is host to numerous nature adventure opportunities, everything from quiet Saturdays spent fishing on the riverbank to early weekday evenings on local hiking trails.
The wilderness of east Tennessee is vast and widely unkempt. Go for a drive, take a hike, wander a backroad. It's not hard to find something beautiful!
The Tellico River runs straight through the area, making it easy to meditate a bit on your own thoughts and ideas while tucked away in the wild.
You can rent a cabin or find a local campsite to spend time in Tellico Plains, but make sure you come prepared for a solid bit of time spent in the heart of nature. Go to the river, climb to the highest peak you can see. There's no reason not to, and this is the place to do it.
