15 Indisputable Reasons Why It’s Not Always Easy Being From Tennessee
Sometimes it’s hard being from Tennessee. What with nothing to do or eat or visit…it’s difficult to keep it to ourselves. We’ve found fifteen indisputable reasons why it’s not easy being from Tennessee. Or maybe – just maybe – it is. How many of these do you find true about your home state?
15. We'd give anything for a hoppin' music scene.
Wellll - Tennessee is home to Music City. We have the best music scene in the nation, even though those big bullies New York and Los Angeles keep trying to steal it from us…keep dreaming, guys.
14. There's nothing to do during the summertime.
It's not like we have copious amounts of waterfalls or trailheads or state protected parks. Nah.
13. We can't stand our monotonous weather.
OR the weather changes every three seconds and we never know what to wear in the morning. It's good to be on your toes!
12. People assume you have a twang.
Some of us do, some of us don't. But those of us that do? Are PROUD of it!
11. Or didn't go to school…
Have you heard of the University of the South in Sewanee? They’ve had twenty-six Rhodes Scholars. And our very own Nashville is known as the Athens of the South.
10. Our winters are the worst.
Tennessee is actually a top destination spot during the wintertime for our fairly mild cold months. All those northerners flock to the south, seeking a place without snow.
9. Man, our income tax is HIGH.
Oh WAIT. It doesn't even exist. BAM.
8. No one visits us.
Nashville was actually listed as one of the top tourist destinations in the United States, and it continues to grow both population-wise and in the job sector with each passing year. We can't keep all those people AWAY...
7. It's SO hard to get anywhere else in the country.
Tennessee and Missouri are bordered by the largest number of states in the Nation, making Tennessee not only easy to get in and out of - but dang right conveniant.
6. Tennessee is just so SMALL…
Or your could drive over three hours either east or west from Nashville and STILL not reach the end of it. You know, small. (Or not)
5. There's nothing to do outdoors.
East Tennessee is home to the Great Smokey Mountains, which is the most visited national park in the United States, boasting miles of hiking trails and campgrounds.
4. We pretty much have NO history to our state.
Wouldn't it have been cool if we were involved in the Civil War and hosted almost as many battles as Virginia, leaving a wealth of history throughout the state? Oh. Wait. We did…
3. The food is lacking. Everywhere.
I mean, we only have barbecue and pancakes and hot chicken and meat 'n threes and biscuits and GooGoo Clusters and…
2. We don't have any good sports teams to root for.
This one could be debatable. But we'll forever be the biggest fans of the Preds and the Vols and the Titans and the Sounds and every high school team out there.
1. No one seems appreciate a good biscuit.
The Loveless Café and your mama continue to put Tennessee on the map in the biscuit department. Our appreciation for good biscuits with jam and butter isn't going anywhere soon!
It’s not hard to fall in love with Tennessee, and
you won’t believe this gorgeous place until you see it!
