Ah, Tennessee. Home to some of the most beautiful views, the most historic spots, and the most delicious food you’ll find anywhere in the country. Put them all together, and you’ve got a recipe for some truly incredible experiences. In Pigeon Forge, there’s one spot that puts all of these things together every day, serving the best pies in the state from a 200-year-old flour mill right on the banks of the beautiful Little Pigeon River. Of course, we’re talking about The Old Mill, one of the most history-filled restaurants in the state. And if history wasn’t enough, their pies are absolutely unbelievable. Oh, and did we mentioned their pies?
The Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee are known for their incredible trails, mysterious hollows, and breathtaking views. But there's one spot in these mountains that is known for its pies.
The Old Mill Restaurant in Pigeon Forge was built in the early 1800's as the town's flour mill, drawing its power from the Little Pigeon River. The mill is still in use today, making much of the flour used in their famous pies.
The Mill's bakery serves up quite a few flavors, including bourbon pecan, apple caramel, and three berry streusel. They're all handmade with fresh ingredients, making these the most authentic and incredible pies you'll find anywhere.
The Old Mill Restaurant has more than enough down-home cookin' to satisfy you, but every meal is served with your choice of bakery item, and obviously, the correct choice is a slice of pie.
If you like it, you can even go to the bakery section of the mill and buy a full pie (or twelve) to take home with you. They'll even ship them to you if you buy them on their website!
As you would expect, the interior of the Mill is beautifully rustic, capturing much of the historic charm of the Mill in its original construction. You can even see the two millstones, only the second ones ever to be used in the mill's history.
What are you waiting for? You have to go visit the historic Old Mill in Pigeon Forge and get you some pie today. They're open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, but their hours change seasonally, so be sure to check their website for updates. Visit them at 175 Old Mill Ave.
