Tennessee’s Very First State Park Is Still One Of The State’s Most Stunning And You Need To Visit
Harrison Bay State Park is a beautiful space located not too far from the ever-popular town of Chattanooga, and it’s an absolute dream for nature lovers. When it comes to camping or fishing or simply hanging out with your sweet friends in the great outdoors, this is one of the best spots in the entire state. A short drive from Nashville and just a stones throw from the Georgia state line, you don’t even need to be from Tennessee to enjoy this gorgeous space.

Harrison Bay State Park was originally created as a recreation area, founded by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The 1,200 acre park became the first state park of Tennessee in 1937.

Made up of 1,200 acres, this corgeous space has deep roots in local history. Te Cherokee Campground was once made up of three villages, each ruled by one of the very last of the great Cherokee Chieftains.

Did you know that the park also has 40 miles of shoreline? It's true! You can come hand out on the edge of Chickamauga Lake for a gorgeous day by the water.

The space is quiet and sweet, a perfectly peaceful place for wildlife and picnickers alike. Wouldn't you love to go fishing at sunset along this gorgeous shoreline? Or maybe even at sunrise.

The park is great for boaters and campers, and day-use is definitely encouraged. All types of boats and water recreation vehicles are able to use the Chickamauga Lake. Camping is one of the most popular activities as well, with 128 hookups for RVs and 21 primitive campsites.
