This Fortress In The Tennessee Woods Is Truly A Sight To Behold
Have you ever had a passion so great that you dedicated 25 years of your life to it? Well, we haven’t either, so when we discovered the Fortress of Faith tucked away in the midst of the Great Smoky Mountains, we fell in love. Not only with the beauty and eccentricity of the place, but the true Tennessee heart that beats behind it.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

This Greenback, Tennessee fortress is one of the most interesting and unique structures, perhaps in the entire state. It's a Fortress built for God.

Junior Banks began building the Fortress of Faith in 1993, and he considers the building still "under construction".

The exterior wall of the Fortress measures twenty-five feet high at its exterior wall. You won't be hopping that wall anytime soon, so we'd recommend going through the correct channels for entrance. After all, admission is free!

Perhaps you'd like to wander through the throne room...

...or maybe make a wish at the Fortress of Faith wishing well? It's only five cents, so it won't set you back too far.

Here you can see an eerie shot of the pet cemetery. The Fortress has truly been set up to be an active, thoughtful place both to visit and experience.

Junior Banks, the owner of this unique property and the artist behind the heart of it, will most likely give you a guided tour if he's available. It's neat to experience his hard work as an opus left to the art-lovers of the world.

Tennessee doesn't have many beautiful, out-of-the way secrets anymore especially with the sudden tsunami of social media and the internet, so the Fortress of Faith really makes for an incredible experience.

You can visit the Fortress for yourself at 250 Lee Shirley Road in Greenback, Tennessee. It's open for admission every day of the week, from 8am to 7pm.
If you’re looking for something a bit closer to home, this Amish grocery is pretty incredible and located not too far from Nashville.
