Note: as of December 2020, this restaurant is permanently closed.
Tennessee is best known for serving up delicious southern dishes, like bbq and macaroni and cheese. Comfort is the name of the game in the south, and most folks don’t know how to comprehend a fabulous seafood restaurant in the heart of a landlocked state. No worries, folks. It’s here, it’s fabulous, and you can eat to your coastal heart’s desire at Elwood’s Shells in Memphis, Tennessee.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. Elwood's Shells prides itself on serving gulf-fresh seafood that will not only satisfy your belly once, but keep you coming back for more. This humble eatery is helmed by the same fantastic folk that brought you the ever-popular bbq eatery, Elwood's Shack.

The Cajun fare on the menu is a MUST, a true nod to the deep American south. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can sate your cravings with everything from shrimp and grits to red beans and rice or a delicious muffuletta.

The brightly designed interior decor is also a solid nod to the Gulf border states. You'll feel like you've stepped through a warp in time and space, suddenly in the heart of New Orleans with a cup of gumbo on the side.

The restaurant is great for the whole family, so make sure to bring the kiddos if the mood suits you. The friendly staff are always more than happy to help out, and their tasting palates are top notch.

Can't make up your mind? We don't blame you. The almond crusted croaker is served with couscous, but it's hard to decide between that and the eclectic fried green tomato tacos. Breakfast consists of everything from a breakfast burrito with NOLA style roast beef to fried eggs on a kaiser roll.

The options are truly endless at Elwood's Shack. Staffed by folk who love food and people, both the experience and the food are well worth a visit.

Elwood's Shells is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
Address: 916 Cooper Street, Memphis, TN, 38104
