Tennessee has been graced with all sorts of natural beauty, and it’s known as one of the most underrated beauties in the nation for its elegant topography. Ol’ Rocky Top even extends its beauty below-ground with an incredible string of cave systems. If you’re looking for someplace beautiful to go it’s not hard — but we have one of the most beautiful state parks in our back pocket, and we think you should visit.
Cove Lake State Park is tucked away in a gorgeous mountain valley on the east side of the famed Cumberland Plateau.
At just over six hundred acres, the park is a great place for hiking and camping, with one-hundred and six campsites scattered throughout the space and a paved walking trail.

Visitors tend to come to fish or picnic at one of the six picnic pavilions, and others simply like to take a leisurely walk or bike ride through the wooded park.
There's also a vibrant ecosystem that exists in the park's wetlands, which lends itself to optimal wildlife sightings.
The actual "lake," Cove Lake, is 210 acres in itself and is popular for both paddling and swimming during the summertime. If you'd rather swim at the park's public pool, that's also encouraged during the on-season.
Birding, hiking, fishing, and biking — you really can do it all at Cove Lake State Park! Sometimes it's easy to forget the space in lieu of Tennessee's gushing waterfalls and rivers, but Cove Lake is truly one of our favorites.
