Eating on the side of a cliff is probably not on most folk’s bucket lists. But we’re about to make a BIG change to yours with a visit to the McCloud Mountain Restaurant in Duff, Tennessee. Take a look at the view from the dining room, fall in love with the rolling clouds and stunning vistas from its expansive deck space and wide windows. This is the closest you can get to a cliffside in the midst of our green, hilly state and we think it’s a pretty good in-between. Let’s take a virtual visit, shall we?
McCloud Mountain Restaurant is located in the heart of the Cumberland Mountains, set high above the valleys below at 2,700 feet. The location serves as a hotel as well, so if you're looking for a suite with a private balcony, they're available in spades!
The restaurant takes reservations only, so there are no walk-in's accommodated. The American-style eatery can take you anywhere from prime rib to chicken, from lobster tails to salad, so each menu is a delight and a surprise.

Since you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner in the restaurant, you have your share of options - but the view comes with everything. We're a big fan of the country fried chicken breast on biscuits for breakfast, the chicken salad sandwich with sourdough for lunch, and the hickory apple smoked baby back ribs for dinner.
Did you know that you may even be able to see bits of Norris Lake from the top? It was the first of the TVA lakes to provide both flood control and electricity, which is pretty neat in itself, but being able to see it from the historic peak of the mountain really adds to the experience.
McCloud Mountain actually has the largest chain of viewable stone chimneys in the entire United States. You can see thirty-two formations across the north side of the mountain, and you can see them all from the Chimney Skywalk.
The Chimney Skywalk is an elevated walkway that is available to visitors and restaurant patrons. You can take in the heart of Tennessee's beauty from over 2,000 feet in the air!
Open Monday through Sunday, you can visit from 8am to 730 pm at 1220 McClouds Trail, Duff, TN 37729. Reservations are available at 423-562-3282, so make sure to call ahead!
