While living in Texas, the home of great BBQ, the smoker was sparked, and trials began. Learning the art of the finest smoked meats was not an easy process, but through much perseverance, a special taste emerged. Bringing it from Texas to his hometown, Alex opened Project BBQ out of a food truck in 2021.
Lines were soon formed, and word spread quickly. It's a small town community after all.

It became evident that the little food truck would no longer be able to serve the lovely people of Johnson City without growing. So fast forward to 2022, a year later, and the restaurant was able to secure a permanent spot on North Roan Street.

Project BBQ was launched as one man's passion and quickly was backed up by family and friends. Exemplifying the great community found in Eastern Tennessee, they rallied around each other to provide the world with great impact. BBQ is one of those foods that just bring people together so you will often see gatherings and celebrations within the four walls of Project BBQ.
