Nature Is Reclaiming This One Abandoned Tennessee Spot And It’s Actually Amazing
When you think of abandoned spots, you probably don’t think about places like the one below. It looks like the lawn is manicured, the castle is occupied by some lucky in love Tennessee native and there isn’t a cloud in the sky. It looks just about perfect, hey?

That is, until you realize this is the Tennessee State Prison, active until 1992. Which means we have almost two and a half decades dedicated to the ravages of time inside these walls. Curious? Take a peek.

We aren't too sure you'd want to spend the night in a cell like this...multicolored with fungi and rot that have seeped through the forgotten walls.

Trash litters the floor and creates a great home for rodents and insects alike as they trip along down the halls.

You can see plant life start to creep up the outside walls..

And the property has become overgrown with weeds and brush.

The once loud and rowdy cell blocks now only creak in the wind, a place remniscent of a livelier time.

But staying in one of the cells today? Would be a nightmare in itself.

The crumbling debris is worrisome for visitors. You don't want to get cracked on the head by a bit of plaster jostled loose by an unassuming rat...or two.

Nothing is getting turned on here any time soon, if you ask us.

Nope. This isn't a thing. Not in the absolute slightest.
Don’t give up on the Tennessee State Prison just yet! There’s a Facebook group, Save the Tennessee State Prison, that is completely committed to saving this historic landmark. Check out their page, donate a little dough and keep this beautiful spot in our state history. Have you visited, or do you want to?
