With warmer weather here we've got our sights set on all the ways we plan on enjoying the great outdoors this season. From beach trips to hiking trails, there's a lot to take advantage of here in New Hampshire. But, one of our favorite ways to celebrate the summer is by sleeping under the stars. This campground in New Hampshire is one of the oldest in America and today it's still going strong!
While Camp Tippicanoe itself might be a contemporary creation, it exists on the same spot as the oldest YMCA camp in the state. In fact, Tippicanoe is so pristine that the area has been used for camping dating all the way back to 1911.
Whether you’re a longtime camper with an outfitted RV that you take everywhere or a camping lover who keeps things simple with a tent, there’s a space for you here. Plus, you’ll find lots of seasonal camping if you like to make your escape last a few months at a time.
We believe that the best kind of campgrounds are the ones that make us feel nostalgic and this place is perfect for that. But, they’ve also got all the modern conveniences that folks want these days. You’ll find a fully stocked camp store, a fun game room, a place to do your laundry and some of the freshest and cleanest bathrooms around.
And, best of all, there’s tons to do here. It’s especially great for families who have kids that love exploring. There’s a fun playground and plenty of kids to make friends with.
Our favorite amenity might be the sandy beach! On the shores of a spring-fed pond, this is a great place for both kids and adults to enjoy the outdoors.
From boating to swimming to laying on the sand, you’ll be surrounded by beauty at all times.
And if you’re looking for a little more action, grab a rod and go fishing.
On days when you want to explore the region, head to Sunapee Adventure Park and all the scenic hiking trails throughout.
Best of all, spending time at Tippicanoe means getting a little closer to a piece of New Hampshire history.
