Summer is almost here and with the warmer weather, thoughts drift to swimming pools and summer water fun. Whereas most hotels in Nevada—particularly Las Vegas because, well, it's Vegas—have pools, many are run-of-the-mill places to cool off while soaking up the sun, for swimming laps, or to keep the children occupied, some hotels have truly spectacular pools. Here are the 11 most unique hotel swimming pools in Nevada you've got to see for yourself:
1. Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas
A beach in Las Vegas? Yes! Perhaps one of the most unique hotel swimming pools in Nevada is the 11-acre Mandalay Bay "beach" pool that features three large pools, a lazy river, nearly 3,000 tons of white sand, a 1.6-million-gallon wave pool, and an adults-only "toptional" (top optional) pool club.
2. Golden Nugget, Las Vegas
The "tank" is the Golden Nugget's pool that features a 200,000-gallon shark tank. The water slide actually takes riders through the shark-infested tank. For adults, there is also the separate area, the Hideout, called the "ultimate adult pool experience."
3. Boulevard Pool, The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas
Boulevard Pool is a rooftop, multi-level, open-air pool offering unobstructed views of Las Vegas in all directions. The pool stage is used frequently for concerts, and movies are shown on the marquee.
4. Grand Pool Complex, MGM Grand, Las Vegas
Not just an ordinary hotel swimming pool, this enormous pool complex has a lazy river where guests can enjoy the Las Vegas sun, four other swimming pools, a cafe, bar, and poolside massages. Whether you want to spend a lazy day lounging around the pool, playing with the kids, or hanging out at the Wet Republic party pool at night, the Grand Pool Complex has everything.
5. Garden of the Gods Oasis, Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas
This Roman-themed pool area with columns, statues, and fountains boasts six (count 'em folks, six) pools including the secluded Venus pool that is adults only and "topless optional."
6. Waldorf Astoria, Las Vegas
This eighth-floor pool deck has two pools, two Jacuzzis and one plunge pool. Attendants also circulate among the guests each hour with frozen fruit and smoothies for the guests' comfort.
7. Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, Reno
One of Reno's most unique hotel swimming pools, guests can enjoy the year-round indoor atrium pool and outdoor whirlpool sauna. Both have rainfall showers, lounge chairs, and social seating areas. There is a second outdoor pool with cabanas that is open seasonally.
8. Flamingo Go Pool, Las Vegas
The Flamingo Go Pool at the Flamingo Hotel boasts five swimming pools on 15 acres, with three of them connected by waterslides and lagoons. The fourth pool features a stunning 18-foot waterfall.
9. Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas
This almost five-acre pool area features three pools: Paradise Beach brings the beach to the hot Las Vegas desert; Breathe provides a tourist-favorite breathtaking view of The Strip; and the sand-bottom Nirvana Pool provides poolside table games and underwater speakers so guests never miss a tune. Pool parties are held often at the Nirvana Pool.
10. The Mirage Pool, Las Vegas
The Mirage pool features two heated outdoor pools, gorgeous tropical grounds, and an abundance of waterfalls. This is always one of the most highly-rated pools in all of Las Vegas but be forewarned, only guests with their room keys will be granted access.
11. Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Reno
The Peppermill's upper and lower pool decks contain two sparkling, geothermally-heated swimming pools. The lower deck pool is open year-round, and there is also a hot tub, mini pool, and waterfall.
"Hotel" and "pool" are practically synonymous, but even more so in Nevada where hotels are resorts, casinos, and spas, and each new one tries to outdo the others. Have you visited any of these amazing and unique hotel swimming pools? Did I miss your favorite? Please comment below.
