There are lots of overnight options in Maine, but none are quite as whimsical as what's nestled in the woods in Kennebunkport. One of the most unique campgrounds in Maine, the spot we're featuring today allows visitors to escape from the every day by choosing from covered wagons, vintage trailers, or tiny houses. This is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors!
The most unique campground in Maine, Sandy Pines Campground, can be found in Kennebunkport and it's a great way to escape the every day, even if just for a weekend.
There's a lot to love about this place. From the general store to the classic tent sites to RV hookups, you can expect the kind of camping you grew up with.
But they also offer some of the most fun glamping sites we've ever seen.
We especially love the covered Conestoga wagons, perfect for a couple looking for a getaway.
While small and cozy, they offer just enough room for two. The location near the beach means you're likely to spend some time outside the wagon anyway.
But coming back at night for a good night's sleep in the woods is something you'll look forward to.
There are two options to choose from, the "Wild Blue Yonder" and "Chuck Wagon." With just two to snag, you'll want to book early!
At night, the area is magical and that's particularly true for the wagons.
While the location offers tons of outdoor opportunities in the form of nearby trails and beaches, we love the idea of hanging by the pool to relax.
However you choose to enjoy your time here, visiting Sandy Pines Campground is sure to be memorable.
Sandy Pines Campground is open seasonally from May through mid-October. They offer everything from classic tent sites to their luxury glamping options like couples' cottages and airstreams.
