So, how cool is this: Indiana is home to 86 sparkling, stunning lakes, all of which make for excellent day trips, weekend outings, or even whole vacations. One of my favorite things to do is explore each and every one of them; each has its own personality and overall vibe, and no one lake is like any of the others. Take, for example, Patoka Lake; it's not overly enormous, at just 13.75 square miles, but it's jam-packed with adventure and is an excellent option for a wonderful weekend away. Plus, I've found the perfect little cabin almost right on the lake to enjoy it from.
Welcome to beautiful, sparkly Patoka Lake: a testament to the photogenic nature of Indiana's countryside.
Like I said, it's not overly huge, but it's not teeny-tiny either; it's the perfect size for water sports and other outdoor shenanigans that folks have come to love from the area.
And nestled right up on a hill very nearby the lakeshore is this adorable little cabin that you can reserve for the ultimate escape.
With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, the place comfortably sleeps eight, and there's plenty to do both on the grounds and nearby in town.
First and foremost, Patoka Lake is a literal stone's throw away, and once you've had a taste of lake life, you'll crave it forever.
Naturally, this just means that you'll come back again... and again... and again. It's sure to become your new favorite home away from home!
It's warm and cozy, with a delightfully rustic feel and wonderfully kind hosts who are happy to help if you need them.
Nearby, there are plenty of things to do, see, and experience, like French Lick, an amazing resort complex built around natural springs, and the legendary Schwartz Family Restaurant and its huge portions are to die for.
Once you've had your fill of the outside world, you know you have a cozy, warm bed waiting for you back at the cabin.
The cabin is also equipped with a fully-functional, stocked kitchen for the best home-cooked meals. There's also a washer and dryer in the unit, which is super convenient for washing the clothes after a day full of adventure.
So come on out to beautiful Patoka Lake and rest your head for a while.
