With over 100 years in existence, the Beard and Lady Inn certainly has many tales to tell. This historic bed and breakfast in Arkansas is one of the most unique places to stay. And I have no doubt that it's perfect for your next getaway. Built in 1887, this hotel located in the small mountain town of Chester, offers its guests a one-of-a-kind experience. From the themed bedrooms to the delectable meals, to the on-site Apothecary shop, curated workshops, and more, it's guaranteed to be an unforgettable stay. Step back in time to the late 1800s to bask in all that this charming inn has to offer.
Originally named the Col. Jacob Yoes Building, this two-story building is the only surviving structure after fires and flood ravaged the tiny town of Chester.
Inducted into the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, the building that operated as a mercantile store as well as an inn, has been restored to its former glory.
Once again, the building is home to an historic inn as well as a mercantile and Apothecary shop, and it offers its guests one of the most unforgettable stays in Arkansas.
On the first floor, you'll find the delightful store that is stocked with personal care, grooming, handmade products as well as locally made goods.
For a one-of-a-kind experience, you can opt for a curated workshop. Learn how to make personal care items as well as partake in old-fashioned traditions like mailing vintage postcards and taking antique portraits.
Take the steps to the second floor of this historic building and you'll be transported back to the 1800s. The walls are dotted with old memorabilia and the hallway lined with antique furnishings from that era.
You'll also notice the lovely communal bathrooms that have everything you need for your convenience.
Along with the bathrooms, you'll also find the 11 meticulously decorated themed bedrooms, each with its own story based on human emotions.
Choose from childhood fear, writers block, aging, and a favorite of the guests, Rosy's room. Rumor has it is that old souls might be roaming around the inn, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled in case you run into any of them.
There is also a restaurant featuring a huge dining space for guests to enjoy a unique gourmet dining experience with authentic selections from the Ozarks.
For those seeking to unplug, you'll be delighted to know there are no TVs at the inn. The owners encourage guests to fully immerse themselves in all that the B&B has to offer.
Want some outdoor adventure? If so, there’s a scenic creek along with multi-use trails in the area. And best of all, you can ride the A&M railroad that features breathtaking views of the Ozarks.
The inn also hosts various events throughout the year. They include weddings, murder mystery dinners, dances, and more.
As you can tell, a stay at the Beard and Lady Inn is an experience unlike any other. This historic bed and breakfast in Arkansas is a true hidden gem and an unforgettable getaway.
I don't know about you, but I could see myself stepping back in time to bask in this unforgettable destination in the Ozark Mountains.
