Seeing vintage photos of Washington is absolutely amazing. With classic images like these rare finds from the 1930s and Great Depression, it can definitely help illustrate what it was like to live in our state many moons ago. Here are some magnificent pictures from the Northwest that date back over 100 years...you may be surprised some of these stunning shots are still around:
1. This was an ice cave at Nisqually Glacier in Mount Rainier National Park, 1907.
2. Here was the stunning perspective from inside the ice caves, 1907.
3. The Columbia River just below the Cascades, as seen in 1913.
4. A log bridge spanning over the Nisqually River, 1907.
5. Our old state capitol building in Olympia, taken in 1906.
6. This was the Fremont Bridge in Seattle under construction in 1916. Behind the bridge, you can see Queen Anne in the distance.
7. The Grays Harbor Lighthouse and water tower in 1910, overlooking the beautiful Pacific ocean.
8. The view heading inside of a mining tunnel in Monte Cristo - which is now a ghost town. Taken in 1912.
9. Here was the Robinson Fisheries Company in Anacortes, as seen in April 1910.
10. Looking over the east portion of Tacoma, with Mount Rainier in the distance. Taken exactly 100 years ago in 1916.
11. Up close, this was the southwest slope of Mount Rainier showing Gilbralter Rock in 1910.
12. The Skokomish River captured near Lake Cushman in 1913, with the Olympic mountains in the background.
13. A jaw-dropping aerial view of the Nooksack Falls hydroelectric plant - as seen in 1906.
