The Farmers' Almanac releases regional forecast summaries, and Vermont falls into Region 1, or the Northeast, along with Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and eastern New York. While winter in this part of the country almost always means snowfall, ice, and plummeting temperatures, this upcoming winter season will be much gentler than normal.
Overall, winter temperatures will be above average. In fact, January will be 4 degrees above average in the far north of Region 1. The coldest bouts of winter weather will arrive in mid-December and late February.
