Postcards might seem like a thing of the past, but they're a great way to hold off on the text message, and show some love with a little effort. Yes, by buying and mailing a postcard! My favorite part is that in my search for these vintage relics, I discovered a lot of these were available to buy. Who is ready to start a postcard collection with me?
1. The woman in the red bathing suit says it all, "look at all of this, yeah, North Carolina is pretty awesome."
2. This postcard of main street in Andrews takes you back in time. My favorite is the cars parked on the street...so vintage.
3. This postcard of an old water wheel is a beautiful piece of art. Something I would definitely hang on my mirror. The colors pop right at you, capturing the beauty of summer in the NC mountains.
4. Greetings from Chimney Rock! This makes me want to visit....
5. Remembering simpler times on Elm Street in Greensboro.
6. Beautiful postcard about our state flower with a cute poem to go along!
The first to bloom in the springtime,
Red berries in summer and fall,
Of all the trees in the forest
We love you best of all.
You spring up out by the roadside,
Stand sentinel down by the gate
While we revel in dogwood blossoms,
For you are the flower of our state
7. This vintage postcard perfectly captures the peace and tranquility of Lake Lure.
8. Sometimes, a retro beach day is just what you need!
9. Charlotte sure has grown a lot since this postcard first made its rounds, but this bit of history is displayed perfectly.
10. The old market house is alive with color in this postcard from Fayetteville.
11. This 1940's vintage postcard shows people know how to spend a hot summer day in Southport.
12. Greetings from Wilmington! I love the detailing on the umbrellas, it really makes the card and lends that laid-back, beach vibe.
13. This postcard from Topsail Island makes me hear ocean waves and feel the sun beaming down on me. I really love this one!
14. Is it just me or does everyone in this postcard look a little hesitant to walk across the mile high swinging bridge? It's ok, I was a little trepid on my first visit.
15. Sir Walter Raleigh is totally owning it in this postcard.
16. The bear is a bit terrifyingly friendly, but besides that this postcard has it all!
17. Durham, coming right at you in this awesome 3D postcard.
18. Capturing simpler times and a craft by hand! I love this.
19. A busy vintage day in Shelby.
20. Oh to live in a distant, simpler time where you can share with your friends one of the terrifying yet interesting elements of the NC mountains...a bear climbing a tree.
Which ones would you send to a friend or loved one? Are any of you postcard collectors?
