Louisiana is unique, that's for sure. The food, the music, and the people all are a part of what makes Louisiana so special. If you grew up here, chances are you have memories that are unique to those that grew up here. How many do you remember?
1. Getting put in one of these:
Try explaining these things to anyone outside of Louisiana — you’ll sound crazy.
2. Crawfish Races
Before the boil, you and your friends probably snuck a few of the live ones to have crawfish races with.
3. Holding your first gator
Not as slimy as you think it would be!
4. Mardi Gras parades with your family
And getting pelted with beads when someone you knew was on a passing float.
5. Getting a snoball after school
And you probably remember your order. Mine was chocolate with condensed milk.
6. The first fish you caught
Everyone remembers their first fish. Mine was a croaker, and it terrified me when it made that noise.
7. Spending time on 'da bayou
Being out on the boat, tubing on a river or kayaking down the bayou... Growing up in Louisiana means you're probably a bit of a river rat.
8. Cheering for your team on the weekends
Whether it was a high school team, college team or pro team, football season is a big deal around here.
9. Someone bringing a king cake to school
And hoping you got the baby.
