All good things must come to an end, and Kentucky is a great thing in this world. The question is; how would our beautiful state meet its final demise? We are a strong people, but if something was to wipe Kentucky off the map, it would have to be a mighty act. After pondering this for a while, I came up with a few potential ways in which we might perish.
Here are 9 potential ways Kentucky might be wiped off the map:
9. Sinkhole
The ground is opening up all across Kentucky with no complete known cause. There is no guarantee that it won’t happen to all of us, just like it did at the Corvette Museum.
8. Fire
We have a large amount of trees, natural gas and coal spread across our lovely state. If a "large" amount of land ever caught fire, we might just blow ourselves right off the map.
7. Literal civilization collapse
Most of Kentucky is on top of a giant cave system. It is fully possible that one day the caves will decide they no longer want to support our cities, and swallow us whole.
6. Flood
We have a lot of water in our state, lakes, rivers and creeks. We also get a lot of rain during certain times of the year, and flooding is often an issue in certain areas.
5. Mudslide
There has been a lot of land development in Kentucky, including mountain top removal. All this change in the land can eventually produce delicate areas ready to just slide away.
4. Allergens
The Bluegrass State is full of forests, flowers, plants, water and cave systems. Combine all these beautiful things with our ever changing weather, and you get possibly the largest combination of allergens combined in one place in the world.
3. Pollution
There is a great deal of beauty in Kentucky, but also a large amount of factories. Our particle pollution in certain cities, such as Louisville, are among the highest in the United States. Eventually, this pollution could likely be our downfall.
2. Sports wars
Our state is relatively divided when it comes to sports. Things get pretty insane when U of K and U of L play. It is possible this could one day become an inner state war, as some fans are out for blood during games.
1. Weather
Our weather is completely sporadic and unpredictable. When combined with allergens, Kentuckian’s health can suffer. Going from 75+ degrees to snow may seem impossible in some states, but it has happened here more than once. There is nothing healthy about that kind of spontaneity.
Realistically, the actual possibility of any of these things happening is minuscule, so please take this with a grain of salt. Yes, we might have some incidents, as every state faces a disaster once in a while, but we are firmly planted on the U.S. map. Just out of curiosity, which of the above do you think would take out our beautiful state?
