Make A Splash This Season At Lake Piru, A Truly Unique Lake In Southern California
In Southern California, almost any time of the year is a great time to be near the water. Whether it’s the ocean, a river, or a lake, the SoCal area is brimming with amazing aqua sites for enjoyment and relaxation.
One of the most popular is the beautiful Lake Piru. Come along as we explore this recreational hot spot offering something for everyone!

Like many reservoir lakes, it came into being after the construction of a dam. In this case it was the Santa Felicia Dam on Piru Creek which was built in 1955.

Although small in comparison to other lakes in California, encompassing an area just under 2 square miles, Lake Piru has a lot to offer.

In addition to a busy launch ramp, visitors here also have access to a variety of boat slips and a marina store for stocking up on any needed boating and recreational supplies. A boat rental facility is also in the works.

Lake Piru draws anglers of all types and abilities to its shores for some of the best fishing in the Southern California area. Fishing tournaments are also held here.

Other water sports that make coming to Lake Piru a pleasurable experience include paddle boarding, water skiing, kayaking, and sailing.

When not on the water, there is plenty more to enjoy. The 238 campground sites can accommodate every type of camper from those in tents to trailers, traditional recreational campers, and large RVs. There is also a sizeable picnic area featuring disc golf, a family playground, horseshoe pits, basketball courts, and other amenities.
For a relaxing day at the lake, Lake Piru is a must for your outdoor recreation itinerary.
