I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t feel instantly more serene at the ocean (okay, I do actually know one person, but I consider her a true anomaly!) That’s why I love this waterfront spot so much. With tables in the sand, the sounds of waves crashing on the shore, great food and drinks, and the name “Paradise” literally in the name, I am pretty sure you will love Paradise Cove Beach Cafe in Malibu, CA, as much as I do.
To reach the cafe, you turn off Pacific Coast Highway at the "Paradise Cove" sign and head a little over one-quarter mile down to the shoreline. From the land side, you can tell the atmosphere is relaxed and beachy.
There are several dining experiences to be had here and the vibe is very laid-back no matter which you choose. You can sit at the bar, dine in one of the indoor booths by the windows, or dine outside in the sun.
But, for me, the sweet spot is right here in the semi-covered outdoor patio. Stick your toes in the sand and enjoy sea breezes with a little shade. There are heaters, too, so if the weather isn't warm or you are here in the evening, you can literally have it all - outdoor, oceanfront dining, and cozy warmth.
Being on the coast, there are loads of fresh seafood options, including very popular fish tacos, award-winning clam chowder, Paella Paradise (serves 3 to 4 people), and Macadamia Coconut Shrimp.
If you are more of a land-lover, fear not. There is also an abundance of non-seafood options on the menu. The Bacon Avocado Burger and Wedge Salad are absolutely delicious.
The tropical cocktails are super yummy, and the list is pretty long, in addition to wines, beers, and a full bar so you can order a favorite classic, too. I can personally recommend the Watermelon Sugar made with Patron and served in an actual watermelon, and the Malibu Mai Tai served up in a hollowed-out pineapple - both so good! The Paradise Rum Runner and the margaritas (there are a lot of choices) are also fantastic.

Paradise Cove also serves breakfast and can you honestly think of a lovelier place to enjoy a long, relaxing brunch with friends?
I'm sure it is not surprising that this is a very popular dining destination with locals and visitors, and there is usually a bit of wait during the summer even if you have a reservation. That being said, the beach is rarely crowded because it is only really used by restaurant customers.
Technically, it is free to walk in from Pacific Coast Highway or to park in the paid lot, but the cost to park if you don't eat here is over four times more than if you do (only $10 to $15 for diners versus $45 to $60 for public access). That keeps the crowds down and the relaxation factor way up.
