This Tiny Shop In Southern California Serves Danish Pastries To Die For
There’s a teensy tiny shop in Southern California that has everyone buzzing. And for good reason, too. Take a look at this charming bakery that’s whipping up the most mouthwatering pastries you’ll ever experience and you’ll see why. Up until now you may have thought all pastries tasted the same, but once you have your first bite at this authentic Danish bakery in SoCal your taste buds will flip out — in a good way, of course. You might start craving a danish after you read this, but that’s a small price to pay to learn about this hidden gem.
Copenhagen Pastry is the tiny shop we adore. It's the first authentic Danish bakery in Culver City and perhaps in all of Southern California. It originally started with only one shop, but due to its popularity there is a new location in Pasadena that's generating just as much excitement.
Karen Hanse, the owner/pastry chef behind this tasty operation grew up in Denmark. From the day she opened this shop she's been dedicated to introducing the authentic Danish baked goods she remembers from her childhood -- pastries and bread -- to the community.
The bakery is just as charming on the inside as it is on the outside. With a bright and cheery interior this bakery will bring a smile to your face the moment you step inside. As we said, it's small. So small in fact, there's no where to eat your pastry inside. Due to its size, the bakery encourages customers to take the pastries home, or to the workplace, or to a friend's house to enjoy them with company.
Trouble deciding which pastry to get? Not to worry. During each visit you'll find a generous selection of samples to try. Never had a Romkugle? No problem, just grab a sample. How about an Almond Mazarin? Yep, there's a sample for that, too!
Look at that line!
People drive from all over SoCal to experience these fine baked goods. Good thing you can pack up a box to go and take them home with you. Pastries are always a joy to share with other people, especially the ones from Copenhagen Pastry. It's a great way to earn brownie points...I mean, pastry points.
What's so great about these particular pastries? First off, everything is made from scratch from authentic Danish recipes. In terms of flavor, what makes them stand out is they are not as sweet and sugary as the pastries you are used to; they are light and flaky with only a hint of sweetness to enhance the flavor.
And let's not forget about their Danish whole grain rye bread. Made fresh daily with a mix of ingredients including rye berries, flax seed, and sunflower seeds, this hearty rye bread brings people back to the baker almost daily.
One things for sure -- this place is loved by everyone who experiences it. If you want proof, just look at the Yelp reviews. You'll be pleased to know this spot has over 650 reviews with an average of 5/5 stars. That's pretty unreal! This place is loved, and it's loved by many, so make sure you don't miss out on this little gem.
So what are you waiting for? Craving a flaky and buttery pastry? Mmmmm, I know I am! You can check out the original location in Culver City at 11113 Washington Blvd. or their second location in Pasadena at 3731 E. Colorado Blvd.
