As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. Tucked in the beautiful valley of Walker’s Basin, deep in the heart of the Tehachapi Mountains, it is safe to say that Rankin Ranch knows a thing or two about western hospitality and relaxation. The family-owned and operated ranch opened its doors to the public in 1965 and has since welcomed hundreds of guests from around the world. If you are looking for an idyllic retreat in SoCal, Rankin Ranch is the place for you.
The picturesque 31,000-acre property is ideal for a quick getaway, family trip, or staycation. With its peaceful atmosphere of horses, cattle, delicious meals, and rich history, you will find yourself completely relaxed in no time — regardless of the season you visit.
Rankin Ranch offers two primary lodging options and can accommodate up to 50 guests in comfortable mountain cabins, each with breathtaking scenes of nature as a backdrop.
Meals are scheduled and served in the dining room or front yard of the original Rankin Home built in the 1870s. When the bell for dinner rings at 6:30 p.m., you can expect candle-lit tables, linens, and fresh flowers at your assigned table.
You can also expect homemade desserts and bread. And dishes prepared with cherry-picked meats, fruits, and vegetables. Guests love the buffet lunch on the terrace and patio, steak fry at the Rankin Home, and BBQ in the meadow.
Ranch activities include horseback riding for guests six years and older. Riders of all levels can join the daily guided rides down the creek, out in the meadow, and up and over the chaparral-covered mountains. There are two rides each day, each an hour long.
You can also enjoy picnics and hikes in the oak and pine-covered mountains, lush green meadows, or along Walker’s Basin Creek. Other ranch activities include fishing at Julia’s Lake, stargazing on the country road, and playing board games in the recreation room.
Rankin Ranch has no intention of breaking its tradition of welcoming guests for a time of relaxation in the mountain. To learn more about the ranch, availability, and rates, check out their website.
