There are most definitely some great swimming holes in SoCal. From secluded waterfall swimming holes to fantastic beaches. Here are a few Southern California swimming holes you might not have known about:

  • Switzer Falls, Tujunga, CA: There is nothing more refreshing than a waterfall swimming hole. This delightful calm basin of water beneath a small waterfall is both a scenic area to relax and a great place to cool off. You'll find it downstream from the Switzer Falls Picnic area.
  • Cedar Creek Falls: Another fantastic waterfall swimming hole in SOCal is located in the Cleveland National Forest. Take the aptly-named Cedar Creek Falls Trail to a rock-lined basin with a nice-sized pool of water and a rushing waterfall. It is a serene location perfect for a hot day.
  • Malibu Creek Rock Pool, Agoura Hills, CA: This lovely cool pool is surrounded by volcanic rock formations which give you plenty of places to enjoy a thrilling jump into the water. There is a 1.5-mile trail to get there but it is an easy walk with the added bonus of being quite scenic.
  • Cooper Canyon Falls, Pearblossom, CA: Another beautiful canyon filled with a private pool perfect for enjoying a relaxing dip is located in the Angeles National Forest. Take the Burkhart Trail to reach this secluded swimming hole. The trail is 6.2 miles round-trip but it is definitely worth the trek.

 

Can you swim at Lake Perris?

Yes, Lake Perris is a delightful swimming lake. The water is cool and clean and the beach is sandy and warm - perfect for enjoying a day with the family on the lake. There are actually two designated beaches on the lake, Moreno Beach and Perris Beach. Lifeguards are on duty daily during the summer and on the weekends in the spring and fall.
