Despite what Hollywood might want you to think, the odds of a zombie apocalypse are pretty remote. After all, can you really imagine your neighbors turning into flesh-eating zombies and breaking down your front door? Still, it’s kind of amusing to think of just where you might go in the case of apocalypse, isn’t it? Here are 10 places you might consider.
Jewel Cave is the third longest cave in the world, so if you stocked in plenty of food and water and blocked off the entrance, the zombies would never reach you.
With an elevation of 7,244 feet, Black Elk Peak is the highest point in South Dakota. If we believe Hollywood's interpretation of zombies, then we know that they're really clumsy and could never complete this hike. We can sit back, eat our stock of granola bars and enjoy the view.

You don't necessarily have to climb all the way up to Black Elk Peak - the Black Hills National Forest covers 1,958 square miles, so it's pretty remote. Zombies aren't known for their hiking prowess, so you'll probably be ok here.

Your best bet in a zombie attack is to get as far away from heavily populated areas as possible. But if you somehow get stuck in Sioux Falls, head for South Dakota's tallest building. Century Link Tower is only 11 stories high, but it would take zombies a long time to climb that many stairs.

Broken Boot Gold Mine is located in Deadwood, so it's fairly remote. A mine seems as though it might be easy to defend - just bring plenty of food with you.

This 231-mile long lake might be the perfect place to hide during a zombie apocalypse. First, zombies can't swim (we assume). Second, think of all the fun you'll have on the lake while you wait for the apocalypse to end - fishing and playing on the water to your heart's content.
The Sage Creek Wilderness Area is the most remote spot in South Dakota, according to the Remote Footprints Project, which is mapping the most remote place in every state. This area is gorgeous - but also quite forbidding. Make sure to pack your backpack with plenty of provisions.
