You’ll Never Want To Leave This Secluded Pine Tree Campground In South Dakota
When the weather heats up this season, you’ll want to escape the blistering heat with a visit to the Black Hills. Sheridan Lake is one great option; its cool waters and ponderosa pines offer welcome respite from the heat.
Lake Sheridan is one of South Dakota's most stunning lakes.
Boasting 7.5 miles of wooded shoreline, this beauty covers an area of 383 acres, and it's so beautiful here that you'll definitely want to stay awhile.
Luckily, the lake has a gorgeous campground where you can lay your head at night.
The Sheridan Lake South Shore Campground is surrounded by a ponderosa pine forest, so the campsites are cool, shady and secluded. You'll find this beautiful campground at 8221 U.S. 16, Rapid City, SD 57702.
The campground offers 129 campsites, situated in five loops. The campground has water, picnic tables, campfire rings, and vault toilets, and of course, plenty of natural beauty.

Sheridan Lake has tons of recreation opportunities.
Fishing can be very good at times, and fish populations include rainbow trout, brown trout, largemouth bass, Northern pike and more. Make sure to get your fishing license before you visit!
A hike on the Flume Trail is the perfect way to spend a day here. Hike the entire 12.4-mile-long trail, or complete one or more of the three sections for a shorter hike.
This historic trail follows the Rockerville Flume, which was used during the Gold Rush until 1885. Along the way, you'll encounter a few mining tunnels, portions of the old flume, and even some abandoned mining equipment. The trail is rated as moderate, with an elevation gain of 1,351 feet.
