Independence Day is right around the corner, which means it’s time to plan how you’re going to spend it. The best way to celebrate the Fourth of July is pulling up a lawn chair and a cooler at some beautiful displays of fireworks held all over South Dakota. Unfortunately, many places can’t have fireworks due to environmental factors, but there are still plenty you can attend. Here are some of the best displays of fireworks in the state.

Where: 415 5th Ave, Belle Forche When: Fireworks after the 7:00 PM concert, July 3rd

Where: Pageant Hill, Custer When: Dusk, July 4th

Where: The Open Cut, Lead When: Dusk, July 4th

Where: Hot Springs Materials Recovery Facility When: Dusk, July 4th

Where: Frontier Days Rodeo, Interior When: At dusk on July 3rd, and directly following the conclusion of the rodeo on July 4th
There are tons of other Independence Day events happening all over South Dakota that are a blast to attend, even without fireworks. Check your local area to see what fun festivals are being held there. Here are a couple of other events with fireworks happening in South Dakota:
Post 22 Fireworks
Post 22 Baseball Field, Rapid City, SD. Fireworks begin at dusk on July 3rd
Box Elder Bash
Box Elder, SD. Fireworks following the day’s events, July 2nd.
It is important to remember that many areas of South Dakota do not allow fireworks and may temporarily disallow them due to environmental conditions. Make sure to check with local laws before setting off any of your own fireworks. Stay safe and have a great Fourth of July!
