12 Things Only Those From South Dakota Know To Be True

Being from South Dakota, there are some things you know to be true. As sure as the sky is blue, these universal truths are ones you can count on, rain or shine.
1. Construction season is the worst season.
2. ...Even though winter is the longest.
3. Our state capitol, Pierre, is definitely pronounced like "peer".
4. Our state has more potholes than Republicans. And that's saying a lot!
5. Hy-Vee has the best produce and there is no better place to get groceries.
6. You can never trust the weatherman. It's best to always be prepared.
7. Hunting is always an acceptable reason to skip school or work.
8. It is totally normal to buy sweet corn from a stranger in a parking lot.
9. When you see one deer, you know there are always more nearby.
10. Our neighboring states have some of THE WORST drivers. Specifically Iowa. Yes Iowa, you.
11. Our lack of state income tax is just an added bonus to living here.
12. If you are driving in a small town or the country, you absolutely MUST wave at other drivers!
