When one of your beloved state towns receives national recognition and attention, it calls for celebration! While we South Dakotans are used to this sort of accolade, we still cannot help but share when America is abuzz with the Mount Rushmore State, which is why we are positively giddy over the fact that one of our towns was recently called one of the most charming in the country:

Recently released by Reader's Digest was their list of "The Most Charming Small Town in Every State," which named Hill City as their choice for South Dakota!

Nicknamed the "Heart of the Hills," Hill City was established in 1876 as the first Black Hills gold settlement that - despite the area mines drying up - has remained both relevant and popular.
