Three cheers for fall! While we’ve not yet officially welcomed autumn, we sure can feel the spirit of the season. The air will soon grow cooler; the sun will fall asleep earlier, and we’ll have plenty to keep us busy during the most rustic season of the year. Can you think of a better way to usher in autumn than by going apple picking at this charming orchard in South Dakota?

Bite into a juicy apple, one you just pulled off of a tree, as the fresh juice sprays all over your face at Hoversten Orchard in Brandon.

The charming orchard boasts rows of apple trees, growing a variety of apples - from Pioneer Macintosh and Fuji to Sweet 16 and Ginger Gold.

Grab your bucket and fill it with delicious apples, which you're welcomed to sample as you're picking apples. Trees with ribbons tied around them signify that they are ready for picking.

Pick the apples from the trees with ribbons. See a few that have fallen on the ground? You can pick 'em, too.

Don't forget to bring the whole family - the kiddos and the pups, too. Yep, pets are welcome as long as they stay on a leash and are closely supervised.
