You’ll Never Run Out Of Things To Do In This Adorable South Dakota Town

This vintage steam train takes you on a scenic tour from Hill City to Keystone, and back again. The entire trip takes about two hours and is narrated to give you a historic perspective of this railroad. The railroad opens for the season on May 14th, and tickets start selling out quickly. Now that you've found a renewed appreciation for trains, you definitely need to check out this charming museum. The model railroad will have you mesmerized, and volunteers are at the ready to show you the exhibits and answer all your questions. 222 Railroad Avenue.

Hill City has a rich gold mining history, and you can relive that history at this little spot. You'll get a quick lesson on how to pan from the stream, and then you'll splash away while you look for gold and gems. 12401 Deerfield Road.

This little natural history museum is full of dinosaur bones, fossils and minerals from the area. You'll find this little gem at 117 Main Street.

The George S. Mickelson Trail is 109 miles long, and it's cuts right through Hill City. It's perfect for a bike ride or leisurely stroll.
