The One Place In South Dakota That Will Drop Your Frozen Jaw This Winter
We all know that Spearfish Canyon is stunning in the fall, but have you experienced all 4 seasons of this glorious area? This South Dakota gorge will leave you absolutely breathless even during the winter months. From icy blue waters, to stunning frozen waterfalls, this natural wonder will drop your jaw this winter.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. There are also stunning frozen waterfalls to stop and see along the way, including Bridal Veil Falls, which can be seen from the highway.
You can begin your scenic drive at Exit 10 or Exit 14 off Interstate 90 which will connect to the mouth of the canyon at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club.

The sparkly, fresh snow blankets the canyon to make for a truly picturesque scene. Talk about serene!


You can rent snowshoes from the Spearfish Canyon Lodge’s Sports Center. The fee is only $15.00 for the whole day.
A spectacular place to dine after a day of exploring, or viewing gorgeous scenery from the byway, is Latchstring Inn. You’ll find this historical restaurant that serves mouthwatering food, at 10619 Roughlock Falls Rd, Lead, SD 57754.
