A Drone Flew Over These Stunning Places In South Dakota And Captured Mesmerizing Footage
There’s no denying that South Dakota has some truly beautiful and unique landscapes. From the Black Hills and the Badlands to the vast prairies and river valleys, it is beautiful in every corner. While it is impressive from any angle you view it, one way that is exceptionally beautiful is from the air. Film maker Neil Shelley captured this amazing drone footage giving us a bird’s-eye view of some of the most iconic natural areas in the state.
First, he shows us Bear Butte, a towering natural formation near Sturgis, SD. This is right on the edge of the Black Hills and gives us a great view into the fields just beyond. At its peak Bear Butte is over 1,250 feet high, and about 4,426 feet above sea level. It is quite the sight to behold from this perspective.
Next we get a fly-through of Spearfish Canyon in the winter. This is a great way to see the beautiful drive the road below winds through. No matter what time of the year it is, this place is gorgeous. You can take the scenic drive yourself, and I highly recommend it. He even shows footage of someone climbing up an icy column on the side of one of the canyon walls!
To finish off, there is a lovely view of the Needles of the Black Hills. There’s nothing quite like the Cathedral Spires and lofty rock formations of the Needles, as it is truly unique to South Dakota.
