The One Restaurant In South Dakota That Serves Tacos That Are Out Of This World Good

For some of the best tacos in South Dakota, head to El Columpio in Mitchell. You’ll love the unique dining room, and the tacos are to die for.

El Columpino opened in 2015, and its location was somewhat of an accident.

Owner Israel Espinosa was on his way to Minnesota when his car broke down in Mitchell. He fell in love with the town, and pretty soon building plans were in place. The restaurant is located at 804 E. Spruce Street in Mitchell.
The dining room is modern and clean, with plenty of seating...and a surprise.

The word "columpino" means "swing" in Spanish. The owner remembers family picnics as a child, with the kids all racing to see who could get to the swing first so they could sit on it for dinner. He brought that idea into El Columpino, and now your kids (or you!) can sit on a swing while you eat.
The Ranchero Tacos are so tasty.

Made with only the freshest ingredients, they're seasoned perfectly and served with a side of ranchero beans and salsa. Choose from several meat options, including chicken, ground beef, chorizo, carne asada, barbacoa, pork carnitas or carne adobada.
The fish tacos are another great choice.

They're served up with tilapia that's grilled in a special chipotle sauce and served with plenty of fresh cilantro and lime.
You should also give the burritos here a try - they're enormous!
