Visiting This One Place In South Dakota Is Like Experiencing A Dream
Sometimes it seems the big cities in South Dakota get all the attention. But in this case it’s not the city that’s grabbing our attention; it’s the natural wonder from which the city got its name that we find simply mesmerizing.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. The gently meandering, ribbon-like Big Sioux River and its effervescent cascading falls create a major spectacle slightly to the northeast of city center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

As a result, the state's largest city is populated with more than 15 developed parks on the shores of the Big Sioux.

The centerpiece of those parks is undoubtedly Falls Park on the Big Sioux River, located at North Phillips Avenue and Falls Park Drive.

This incredible natural wonder in the heart of the state's largest city manages to claim 123 acres of prime waterfront real estate.

The sheer size and volume the river and falls cover is almost overwhelming in person. You could say it's like experiencing a dream.

But there's more to see, should you need eye candy other than the bubbly water crashing over the rocks into the pools below. The park boasts many historical buildings including the Queen Bee Mill and the Horse Barn.

A Visitors Center is open year-round at Falls Park.

There's a five-story observation tower, but you're free to roam the 123-acres of this oasis all on your own. Admission to the park is free.

The next time you get over to the Sioux Falls area, be sure you have this dreamy spot on your bucket list of things to do. You won't be disappointed.
