10 Things People In South Dakota Did Before The Internet Took Over Our Lives

Before the internet came about, life moved a little slower. Though the internet has made many parts of life easier, don’t you sometimes yearn to go back to those golden days when people in South Dakota seemed a little less opinionated and Facebook wasn’t even in your vocabulary? There were so many hobbies and ways we spent our time that are often forgotten now that the internet was quite literally taken over. For nostalgia’s sake, we’ve listed just a few of the things we used to.

1. We hit up the bowling alley with friends.

2. If it was nice out, we spent time swimming at the local pool or lake.

3. We spent countless hours at the arcade.

4. When we weren't sure about something, we went to the library and researched it.

5. When we wanted to watch a movie, we went to the video rental store. Because they still existed.

6. We walked out of our way to use payphones. Because the idea of having a phone in your pocket was absurd.

7. We wrote handwritten letters and mailed them via snail mail.

8. We read the paper to catch up on the news.

9. We used road maps instead of Google Maps.

10. We trusted our neighbors and formed our own opinions.
