This Road Trip To South Dakota’s Most Majestic Castles Is Like Something From A Fairytale
South Dakota is home to many unique places and buildings, and that certainly also includes impressive castles. Though you can only walk inside a few of the majestic buildings listed, you can certainly stand in awe at all of them and appreciate their grandeur from the outside. If you’ve been waiting for a new road trip to take, you’re in luck. We went ahead and created a road trip that will take you to our state’s most majestic castles.

This unique castle is arguably the most intriguing feature of the Petrified Wood Park
in Lemmon. Dating back to the 1930s, this attraction is the largest of its kind in existence, and you’ll definitely want to visit. The best part? You can explore this massive area for no fee. 500 Main Ave, Lemmon, SD 57638
Free admission can also be enjoyed at this fantastic South Dakota amusement park. Explore over 100 exciting fairytale sets, and be sure to check out their spectacular partial castles. Hike the relatively short castle trail and you’re certainly in for some seriously unbelievable views of the Badlands. The towering plateaus and intricate rock formations form captivating castle-like formations you won’t be able to look away from. Imlay Township, SD 57790
You’ll find another captivating castle located right across the street from the World’s Only Corn Palace. Though it’s currently sitting empty, it was the home to the Enchanted World Doll Museum for 3 decades, displaying over 4500 modern and antique dolls. True to its name, this is a palace and NOT a castle, but can you really be right across the street from this iconic structure without at least walking over to take a closer look? This multiple purpose facility is certainly close to the hearts of many South Dakotans, and the corn murals are out of this world. 604 N Main St, Mitchell, SD 57301
You can explore this spectacular theme park and enjoy a world inspired by nursery rhymes for no fee. The gigantic medieval castle is guarded by knights and surrounded by an impressive moat. 2300 24th Ave NW, Aberdeen, SD 57401
