This Tiered Waterfall And Swimming Hole In South Dakota Must Be On Your Summer Bucket List

It’s that time again: It’s time for South Dakotans to make their summer bucket list! Since there are so many things to see and do around the Mount Rushmore State, how does one choose? We recommend beginning with a dip in this South Dakota swimming hole and waterfall:

Hiding out near Keystone, the Hippie Hole is arguably the most beautiful swimming hole in the state, thanks to both the clear water and surrounding Black Hills landscape.

No matter where you look, you will find something that will make your jaw drop, including giant rock walls, shady trees, and a pristine waterfall.

Doesn't this look like the best place to spend a hot summer day? We are ready to jump in!

While the swimming hole itself is reason enough to visit the Hippie Hole, the beautiful, yet short and sweet hike to the pool gives even more incentive.

Please note: The 1.5-mile out-and-back south trail is longer and more challenging to navigate than the .6-mile north trail. Each trail ends at the same spot, so take your time and exercise caution.

Both the north and south Hippie Hole trails are accessible via Highway 40 and Foster Gulch Road.
