South Dakota’s Niagara Falls Is Too Beautiful For Words
Everyone and their mother knows South Dakota for Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills, and Crazy Horse, but we locals know to keep the best things for ourselves… (Amen? Amen!) Take, for instance, our many hidden and oh-so stunning waterfalls, including this beauty that could even be compared to Niagara Falls:
Welcome to charming Spearfish; South Dakota's "Queen City" that is home to 10,500 friendly residents, a rich mining history, and...
Hiding out at the base of Spearfish Canyon, Spearfish Falls is an amazing 47-foot-tall cascade that is fed by the nearby Spearfish Creek, making for both a photographer and nature lover's dream.
In addition to the falls themselves, the area is home to a must-hike trail, which spans 1.5 miles and passes not only the waters, but ample trees, wildflowers, and wildlife as well.
Hiking not your thing? No problem, as there is an easier way to visit the area, thanks to a 3/4-mile trail located just to the left of the Latchstring Restaurant.
